Production and process
Our inspirations comes from old hand craft traditions and by using natural dye to colour our pieces we want to celebrate these traditions. All our products are hand dyed, hand sewn and hand made. Each of our pieces turn out unique due to the colouring process.
Colours
We colour our pieces with plant and vegtable dye. For exampel with turmeric, red cabbage and acorn. Colours produced with plant dye are very sensitive. This means the colours can shift through time and in contact with some elements, like metals.
Material
Washable paper is made of natural cellulose pulp mixed with latex so it becomes water resistant and lasts longer. You can wash the paper several times and reuse it, and also recycle it as normal paper.
Colouring process
First we put the washable paper in a colour fixative so the colour will last longer. Then we cook the plants/vegtables in a pot of water and mix with a mordant to produce a certain colour. And lastly we dye the paper in the dyeing water and after it has dried it is ready to be made in to a bag, a card holder or even an earphone case!
